Music

At Newlands Spring Primary School we have a full and varied music curriculum. All classes have weekly music lessons and three musical productions are performed each year. Key Stage 1 perform an annual Christmas production, Years 3 and 4 perform during the Spring Term whilst Years 5 and 6 perform during the Summer Term.  Performances for 2015/2016 were

  • The Bossy King by Key Stage 1
  • Resurrection Rock by Years 3 and 4
  • Midsummers Night Dream by Years 5 and 6

All Key Stage 1 children learn the violin as part of the school curriculum, with some progressing onto the cello.

Our school choir performs regularly in and around Chelmsford and has made several appearances at the Royal Albert Hall and Westminster Cathedral for Barnado.

Music clubs for recorders, bell plates and djembe drums are run to encourage children to pursue an interest in a particular instrument.

We also offer peripatetic music lessons in singing, keyboard, piano, drums, woodwind, guitar and violins. Please contact the school office if your child is interested.
