Music
At Newlands Spring Primary and Nursery School we are very proud of our full and varied music curriculum.
All children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 have weekly whole class violin lessons. In KS2 they learn to play the recorder and glockenspiel and a range of percussion instruments.
As well as music lessons in class, all children take part in a production each year. Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1 perform an annual Christmas production, Years 3 and 4 perform during the Spring Term whilst Years 5 and 6 perform during the Summer Term.
We also offer a number of extra curricular music clubs including djembe drums and choir.
Our school choir performs regularly and has recently taken part in "A Night of Movie Magic" at the Royal Albert Hall singing alongside the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra to support Barnardos.
Many of our children also opt to have private music lessons with one of our many peripatetic teachers. These include singing, woodwind, piano, drums, brass, guitar and strings.
Please do contact the office if your child is interested.
