OPAL
What is OPAL?
OPAL stands for Outdoor Play and Learning.
In June 2025, all staff had training on what OPAL is, the importance and benefits of different types of play and we began our journey to refresh our playground and playtime provision. This is a link to the OPAL website that explains what OPAL is all about.
The OPAL Programme is a series of meetings and resources provided by a specialist mentor who will work with our school to transform playtimes so they provide the most active, fun and sociable play opportunity possible for your child. THe OPAL motto is ‘Every child should have an amazing playtime every day without exceptions’

Quick Wins!
Our first tweaks are the introduction of music to the playground. Thank you to FONS for supplying us with a robust, new speaker!
Our children are also loving access to dressing up and the freedom to let their imagination take them wherever they like!
They are also enjoying open ended play with a mass of cardboard boxes! Their creativity and imagination is endless.
Support
Our aim is to introduce water play, a sand pit, a digging zone, social spaces, a wheeled zone, den building and lots more to our outdoor space!
